Shrine of Gokyo Lake & Glimpse of Mt. Everest - 14 Days Trekking
Itinerary:
Day 01: Pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel, be fresh & rest for couple of hours then before dinner introduce with your guide and other staffs to discuss about trip preparation, submit photographs and needed papers for the official procedure.
Day 02: Sightseeing tour around the Kathmandu valley. This day sightseeing tour will take you to visit all the major historical and cultural monuments of Kathmandu valley. Kathmandu Durbar square, Swayambhunath stupa (famous monkey temple), Boudhanath stupa and pashupatinath temple (Famous Hindu temple of Asia)
Day 03: Begin 14 days trek to Gokyo Lake
Trekking day 01: Fly to Lukla at 2840m., and trek to Phakding at 2610m. About 35 minutes flight from Kathmandu brings you directly into the mountain airport. Easy trekking passes by a Gompa on the hill, under a cliff and alongside the Dudh Koshi River bank. The trail is gentle descends first up to Thado Koshi then gradual climb up to the first camp site
Day 04: Trekking day 02: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m), Namche Bazar is main commercial town of Khumbu region as well as gate way to Mt. Everest. Before head to further your journey you will have chance to experience about real Sherpa culture.
Day 05: Trekking day 03: Acclimatize in Namche Bazar, morning visit Everest view Point form there you will have first glimpse of Mt. Everest and stunning views of other mountains- Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Khantenga, Thamserku and more. After an hour enjoying with splendid views back to tea house for rest and enjoy visiting Sherpa’s carnival market.
Day 06: Trekking day 04: Trek to Dole at 4200m. after breakfast at Namche Bazar your trek start via gentle ridge walk of the town and drops you the small tea house place Kyangjuma then route will divert towards way to Gokyo Lake. On the way you will have lunch stop at the fantastic place Mong Dada and that place also offers you amazing views of snow clad peaks.
Day 07: Trekking day 05: Trek Dole to Machhermo at 4470m. The trail goes climb up via Dhudh Koshi river bank side, you will be at your lunch place on the way is called Luza (4360m) and from there again start crawling up to the final stop of the day.
Day 08: Trekking day 06: Trek to Gokyo Lake at 4790m. The trail continue after breakfast gradual climbing towards the Ngozumpa Glacier moraine side and you will see first Lake after continue the trek again you will have beautiful second lake and finally you will be in the Gokyo Lake which is considered as both Hindus and Buddhists secrete holy pilgrimage site.
Day 09: Trekking day 07: Explore around Gokyo Lake morning visit Gokyo Ri at 5360m from there you will have stunning view of whole Everest region including Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Taboche.
Day 10: Trekking day 08: Trek back to Dole- coming back from Gokyo Lake via same route descending will be easier so you can cover by walking much longer distance up to Dole for over night again and on the way at Machhermo we have lunch break.
Day 11: Trekking day 09: Again continue the journey via same route up to Phortse Tenga and after that route will be changed cross the Dhudh Koshi River Bridge and climb up to the lonely village Phortse at 3800m. The sacred village offers stunning panorama views of Mt. Ama Dablam and many other snow caped peaks and as well as real Sherpa culture.
Day 12: Trekking day 10: Trek to Tengboche at 3930m. first the trail will lead you toward the another famous Sherpa village Pangboche and after crossing the Imja Khola Bridge gradual climbing up to the Tengboche Monastery. This is one of the biggest monastery of around and many people gathers during the famous Mani Rimdo Festival. Besides the place offers you panoramic views second glimpse of Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam and many other peaks.
Day 13: Trekking day 11: Trek Back Tengboche to Khumjung Sherpa Village, This is the largest settlement village in the Sherpa land where you will have chance to see real Sherpas’ life style and there cultural activities, The village has also a high school which is funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation and also an old monastery where they have preserved famous Yeti skull.
Day 14: Trekking day 12: Trek back to Phakding, the trail again drops to Namche Bazar and have a short tea/coffee stop and continue descending via same route and on the way stop for the lunch break an hour at Jorsale Village.
Day 15: Trekking day 13: After breakfast from Phakding Village, trek back to Lukla, have a lunch and rest at tea house lodge or afternoon free for personal activities.
Day 16: Trekking day 14: In the morning fly Lukla to Kathmandu trip end. Pick up from the domestic airport than transfer to the hotel. Free for your own activities, rest, shopping etc...
Day 17: International departure or go for onward program.
